what we blog

Come be part of our team!

We are looking to expand our team with a full-time Backend Developer (all genders) with experience in databases and backends. Our office is located in Kreuzberg and unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

While we are generally welcoming developers of various experience levels, we are currently looking for someone with at least 2 years experience who are happy to share their knowledge with our more beginner level developers.

Who we are

Asquera, that is a consulting company with a team of people focused on backend and database systems. Not only do we help clients build software in a number of languages, we also frequently hold workshops for our clients on Elasticsearch and Rust.

We as a company try our best to build an inclusive environment, in which we help and support others by being open, friendly, honest and welcoming, be it within the team or when working with clients.

The same effort goes into the organization of meetups or conferences that we host or co-host.

Who you are

You ideally are experienced in at least two programming languages, such as Ruby or Javascript, which are currently our most requested technologies. You enjoy using both relational and document-based databases, such as Postgres, MySQL or CouchDB. As a bonus, you’re confident with Elasticsearch and/or are interested in Rust as well. As we believe in nurturing our less experienced developers, you should also enjoy sharing your knowledge with the team and mentor others.

In general we are looking for new team members who are motivated to continue learning (also from mistakes), who like to collaborate with others to find good solutions and who aren't shy when it comes to discussing different possibilities.

As a backend developer at asquera, you will work on building and changing smaller and long-term projects from either our office, or on site at the client's. Using appropriate tech choices, you work out solutions suitable for our client's needs. For some projects, you may also provide operations support.

What we offer

We don't believe in kicker table or fresh fruit basket 'perks', we do however believe in offering meaningful benefits.

We offer you a full-time flextime position with 37,5 hours/week and remote work as much as project requirements allow. We also offer you a welcoming team environment with a focus on sharing knowledge and expanding your own. We, as a company, work for different communities and value if our employees want to be personally involved in a number of communities.

We value learning and want to give you opportunities to learn and improve with workshops, books and other learning resources. Another perk is the bi-monthly culture day, bi-monthly show and tell and our yearly company retreat. If you are an avid bicyclist, we can offer you a personal company bike.

While German language skills are beneficial - some of our clients have german as their office language - it is not mandatory to be fluent to begin with. We provide language classes when needed.

If you would like to work with us, please send an email with your resume, and if you want to, include online references (blog/GitHub/LinkedIn).

We’d like to hear from you.
